Sometimes when using a brush, you want Photoshop to ramdomly change the size of the brush while using it. The best way to do this is by using Shape Dynamics:

  1. Open Photoshop.
  2. Create a new document (File, New).
  3. From the Toolbox, choose the Brush tool.
  4. From the Menu toolbar, choose Window, Brushes.
  5. The Brushes window opens. Click on the word Shape Dynamics to select it, and open the options for the dynamics.
  6. To change the smoothness of the brush while painting with it, move the Size Jitter slider. The more Jitter, the less regular the size of the shapes.
  7. Minimum Diameter is going to specify the smallest size of the brush that you are going to use.
  8. Angle Jitter controls how much you want the image to rotate while using the brush.
  9. The Roundness Jitter controls how round you want the brush to perform. You can change the Minimum Roundness as well.

Playing with Shape Dynamics can be so much fun, and it’s an easy way to bring more interest when repeating a shape.
